WWE Raw opened this week with Rhea Ripley. She came to the ring to address Liv Morgan and the returning Raquel Rodriguez, who returned at Bad Blood to help Liv retain the title. She wouldn’t waste any time, immediately calling them to the ring. However, it would be Tiffany Stratton who would answer her call. Tiffany would come with a message from Nia Jax, telling Rhea to stay out of her business. Ripley would tell her she doesn’t have time for this, as she is focused on Liv and Raquel. Liv and Raquel would then blindside both of them and lay the boots down.

The first match of the new year would be for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship, seeing Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill defending against Damage CTRL. Iyo Sky seemed to be the star of the relatively short match until NXT’s Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson interfered from the other side of the barricade, costing her team the match.

The next match would see Alpha Academy take on The War Raiders in the first round of a #1 contender’s tournament for the tag titles. Big return for The War Raiders, but it was only slightly more than a squash match.

Next, we would see Cody Rhodes come to the ring for a promo. It will be champion versus champion when he takes on Gunther at Crown Jewel. After playing the babyface to the locals, he was quickly interrupted by Gunther. After a rather mild verbal back-and-forth, the two would shake hands.

Bron Breakker versus Kofi Kingston would be next. There was some back-and-forth, but Bron would win a rather average match. After the match, Bron would go to hurt Kofi further, but Kofi was saved by Xavier Woods. Just when you thought the segment was over and Xavier was checking on Kofi, that is when Bron decided to attack Xavier as well. Jey Uso had seen enough at this point, coming out to take care of Bron Breakker.

Next, we would see The Miz versus R-Truth—The Miz recently turned heel at the expense of his former partner. Seconds into the match, Final Testament would appear at ringside. This distracted The Miz, allowing R-Truth to win via a simple roll-up. After the match, the Authors of Pain would throw R-Truth back into the ring for The Miz to beat up.

Next up, Rhea Ripley, forced to team with Tiffany Stratton, would take on Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez. The match was good but certainly lackluster. The match was ruined by Nia Jax, who took out everyone except Tiffany Stratton.
