AEW Dynamite opened this week with Nigel McGuinness versus Bryan Danielson. The match itself was quite good, but considering all the hype, it fell a little short. Danielson would ultimately win via submission. After the match, Christian Cage would come out with his open contract (think of it like Money in the Bank). Blackpool Combat Club, with the help of Kip Sabian, would take the pen, literally, out of his hands.
Is it time for Christian Cage to exercise his GUARANTEED #AEW World Title Shot?

Hook would defend the FTW Championship against Roderick Strong in the next match. Roderick Strong was largely in control until he set up some chairs, only to be thrown onto them himself. Shortly after, he would win via submission. After the match, Hook would retire the FTW Championship.

Will Ospreay and Kyle Fletcher would have a shot at the AEW World Tag Team Championship when they faced The Young Bucks. Both Fletcher and Ospreay showcased their abilities early on. The Young Bucks would mount a great comeback, showcasing their skills as well. They would go back-and-forth for some time, including great reversals and false finishes. While perhaps not an old-school technical masterpiece, the match displayed tons of skill and athleticism along with high spots. Near the end of the match, Don Callis distracted the referee and threw a screwdriver to Kyle Fletcher. Ospreay stopped Fletcher from using it, only for The Young Bucks to take advantage of the distraction and pick up the win themselves.
Not like this, Kyle!

The next segment saw Tony Schiavone interviewing Prince Nana about the injured Swerve Strickland when MVP made a surprise appearance. In short, MVP called Nana a joke and told him to have Swerve call him when he was ready to talk serious business.
Just when we started to hear about Swerve Strickland, we got a surprise appearance and OFFER from MVP!

Mariah May would defend the AEW Women’s Championship against Yuka Sakazaki. Mariah would retain after an average match. Willow Nightingale would come out afterward to aid Yuka, while Mina Shirakawa would come to join Mariah.

Darby Allin would put his title shot on the line in a match against Jon Moxley in the main event. It wouldn’t take long for blood to start coming from Darby Allin, somewhere in/around the mouth. Moxley would be in control for quite a while, forcing numerous exhausted kickouts. A very physical match, both in the standard striking and also hardcore spots. Moxley did so much damage and yet Allin would keep kicking out – bringing on a “you can’t kill him” chant. It would take a huge move off the top for Moxley to finally keep Allin down and win his title shot against Bryan Danielson. After the match, Danielson would try to jump Moxley, in retaliation for their attack last week. Things would break down between Danielson and Friends versus BCC before Danielson would make their match official for WrestleDream.
