Week 3 of our NFL Sunday Night Football series will feature the Kansas City Chiefs traveling to Atlanta to take on the Falcons. The Chiefs look to remain undefeated, while the Falcons are looking to keep the momentum rolling after a 1-point victory over the Eagles last week.

Atlanta came into this season with a lot of hope, with returning stars such as Bijan Robinson and Kyle Pitts, and new additions like Kirk Cousins and Darnell Mooney. The defense has been steady but not amazing thus far, keeping both opponents this year under 22 points. The offense has been similar—not bad but in the bottom half of the league in most stats, including 20th in yards per game (318.5) and 17th in points against (19.5). I am still employing a wait-and-see approach with quarterback Kirk Cousins. It could be that he is still recovering from his injury or getting used to a new team, but he has looked stiff at times. This could mean that he will improve, or it could be a sign of concern for an aging veteran.

The Chiefs are undefeated this season after winning the Super Bowl last year. The defense has been particularly interesting this season, with the 31st-ranked pass defense and 18th-ranked run defense, but still keeping opponents to an average of 22.5 points per game. Despite being 15th in total yards, the Chiefs are 6th in the league in points scored—this dynasty always finds a way to win.

The Chiefs head into this one as 3-point favorites on the road. If the Chiefs’ defense can step up and contain Falcons RB Bijan Robinson, they should have a good shot at covering that spread. The Chiefs are without WR Hollywood Brown (likely out for the season) and star RB Isiah Pacheco, who could also miss the rest of the season. Mahomes still has plenty of talent around him with the likes of Kelce, Rice, and rookie Xavier Worthy. The Falcons do have a shot if they can get their running game going and can get to Mahomes, but they certainly are in tough Sunday night.
