Head coaches are constantly under pressure to perform year in and year out. It can drive coaches to more success, while some crumble under it. On Thursday, On3 Sports’ Jesse Simonton released his rankings for the ACC head coaches under the most pressure heading into 2024.

The Florida State Seminoles won the conference last season after beating the Louisville Cardinals in the ACC title game. However, after the ACC Championship, Florida State did not make the College Football Playoff. Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers would love to reclaim the conference title this season. Swinney has not been to the playoff since 2021. The Tigers lost to the Ohio State Buckeyes in the Sugar Bowl.

According to Simonton, it may be playoff or bust for Clemson this season. “The Tigers haven’t made the College Football Playoff in four seasons and are coming off a season where they went .500 in ACC play,” Simonton said. “Still, they have an overall strong roster, so anything short of a league title will be seen as a disappointment in a watered-down ACC.”

Clemson opens the 2024 season with the Georgia Bulldogs on Aug. 31. Kickoff will be at Noon ET on ABC.
