AEW Dynamite this week opened up with MJF, who tried to cut a promo in the ring but was quickly interrupted by Daniel Garcia. They would be very cordial to each other, and it seemed they were about to announce a PPV match when Will Ospreay made his way down. Ospreay would offer Garcia a title match next week, which was, of course, accepted. Ospreay would leave, and MJF would be upset about losing the spotlight to him. MJF would retract his match with Garcia and leave to end the segment.
MJF has a challenge for Daniel Garcia, but #AEW International Champion Will Ospreay has a challenge of his own!

Blackpool Combat Club would take on Los Ingobernables de Japón in trio’s action. A high-paced match with a good mix of high flying and good striking. They also did a good job of utilizing all the men and keeping the action smooth. It was a great match until the fight got out of hand and the referee had to throw out the match. Naito, Moxley’s opponent at Forbidden Door, would then make his appearance and the two would brawl into the stands. Wheeler Yuta would be the victim of some vicious elbows in the ring from Shingo until rescued by Bryan Danielson. Those two men will also face off at Forbidden Door.
Tetsuya Naito and Jon Moxley get their hands on each other before they meet for the #NJPW World Heavyweight Championship THIS SUNDAY at #ForbiddenDoor!

Jay White and Rey Fenix faced off as part of the Owen Hart Tournament. Two of the best in the business and the best of the high-flyers delivered a hard-hitting match. It felt rather short, almost as if they did not give these two enough times to put on the quality match, we know they can have. Christian Cage and The Patriarchy would approach the trios’ champs after the match. Nothing would come of it, but the champs seem to have a new storyline.
SPIKED!

The Acclaimed would be in the ring for a promo for the next segment. The Elite were sure to interrupt them before the pop of the scissoring. Tanahashi was announced to join The Acclaimed to take on The Elite at Forbidden Door.
Did the EVPs and Kazuchika Okada bite off more than they could chew at #ForbiddenDoor?!

Toni Storm, Mariah May, and Mina Shirakawa would take on Saraya, Anna Jay, and Harley Cameron in a trios match. The match was average at best and seemed more focused on the storyline of Mariah May being torn between Toni and Mina. Mariah would get her two teammates to toast to victory. Mina would attempt to blindside Toni with the bottle of champagne, only for Toni to move out of the way, and Mariah May would get knocked out accidentally. It will be Toni Storm versus Mina Shirakawa at Forbidden Door.
It's all fun and games until the Champagne comes out.

The Learning Tree would cut an in-ring promo next. Jericho would announce a replacement for the injured Bryan Keith: Minoru Suzuki. To Jericho’s surprise, Suzuki would decline the offer and actually challenge him for the FTW Championship at Forbidden Door. Their opponents, Samoa Joe, Hook, and Shibata would come to the ring with smiles on their faces. With the injury to Keith, it was basically a 2 on 3 brawl that ensued. Is the trios match still on? Is there an FTW Championship match? More answers than questions at this point.
The Trios Match is still on for #ForbiddenDoor, but who will side with "The Learning Tree"?

Zack Sabre Jr. versus Kyle O’Reilly was the next contest. Great chain wrestling and technical prowess started off the match. What this one lacked in speed and impact, it made up for in move set and transitions. Sabre Jr. would win via tap-out. Orange Cassidy would go to check on O’Reilly after the match, leading to a face-to-face between Orange and Sabre Jr. in hype of their upcoming pay-per-view match.
Orange Cassidy still has some friends left!

The main event saw Swerve Strickland and Will Ospreay team up to take on The Gates of Agony. Swerve and Will had to put aside their upcoming title match to take on the giant foes. Swerve and Ospreay struggled with miscommunication throughout. Despite this, the match still had good back-and-forth action. There were notable hot tags and false finishes as well. Ospreay and Strickland also did a good job of showing off their amazing move sets. Swerve caught a boot not intended for him, causing even further friction between Swerve and Ospreay. The champions were victorious in a match where the teammates seemed to be trying to one-up each other. Swerve laid out Ospreay after the match to look strong as Dynamite went off the air.
#AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland did NOT let International Champion Will Ospreay get away with that move a second time before their World Title Match at #ForbiddenDoor THIS SUNDAY!
