AEW Dynamite would open with the recently returned MJF for an in-ring promo. He would put everyone on notice, including Okada, Swerve, and Ospreay. Rush would eventually be the one to interrupt the promo, saying MJF is stealing his spotlight and that he is there to take it back. A brawl would ensue, and the two would be held apart by officials.
What could RUSH have to say to MJF?

The first match was to determine the number one contender for the AEW International Championship. It was a four-way match between Orange Cassidy, Kyle O’Reilly, Jay Lethal, and Rey Fenix. Not a whole lot of traditional wrestling in this one, but plenty of dangerous high spots and pace. All four men certainly had their moment to look good. Jay Lethal would attempt a figure-four on Rey Fenix, but it would be reversed into a pinfall for Rey Fenix to become the number one contender. After the match, Kris Statlander would turn heel on Orange Cassidy, even striking him. Willow Nightingale would come out to aid Orange and end the segment.

The next match was for a spot in the upcoming TNT Championship Ladder match. It would be Brian Cage versus Mark Briscoe. Mark Briscoe would win an average match before Jack Perry would appear on the Jumbotron, saying it didn’t matter, as he would be the next TNT Champion.

The Blackpool Combat Club would take on Team CMLL in a cross-promotional match. They somehow did a good job of making sure all eight men got some work in. Team CMLL had some great talent on display in AEW, with great high-flying, fast, luchador style. The returning Wheeler Yuta would secure the pinfall for BCC.

Mariah May versus Saraya was the next contest. This was a slow-paced, average match at best. Saraya would win via submission. Toni Storm would come to check on her friend after the match, only to get jumped by Harley Cameron and Saraya. Mina would come to the aid of Mariah, as she usually does, as Mina and Toni appear to be fighting for the title and for Mariah.

The main event would see Roderick Strong challenge Swerve Strickland for the AEW World Heavyweight Championship. Both men would get their work in. However, Strong would have the numbers in his favor with Undisputed Kingdom at ringside, and he would use this to his advantage early on. The champion would overcome, of course, hitting the House Call to secure the pinfall.
