Greenville Drive and Crawdads Ready to Clash at Flour Field

Luis Perales struck out eight, Kristian Campbell notched his team-lead-tying fifth homer of the year, and Caden Rose blasted a two-run homer as the Greenville Drive (13-17) scored four in the second inning defeating the Hickory Crawdads (11-18), 5-2 in seven innings at Fluor Field on Thursday night in the concluding game of the day’s twin bill.

Rose’s blast put the Drive ahead for good in the second after Tyler Miller slapped an RBI-double the at-bat prior that put the Drive in front 2-1. Rose’s long-ball traveled 397-ft, exploding off the bat for a no-doubter that clanged off the bricks near the third row of windows of the office building behind the Green Monster.

The Hickory Crawdads (11-17) outlasted the Greenville Drive (12-17) 4-2 in the first round of Thursday’s twin bill, after inclement weather suspended the game on Wednesday.

Greenville had just taken a 2-1 lead in the first on a bases-loaded walk to Bryan Gonzalez when the tarp crew entered the game as heavy rains moved in on Fluor Field, delaying the game for two hours and five minutes before it was officially suspended. When the game resumed at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Karson Simas came to the plate for the Drive with the bases loaded and chopped the second pitch of the at-bat to second for an out, putting the game back in play at Fluor Field.

Rogers will be on the mound for the Greenville Drive (13-17) tonight as they finish out the week with the Hickory Crawdads (11-18) at Fluor Field. The Drive would get a run in the sixth inning and hold on to a shutout game 1-0 in front of a great crowd at Fluor field. Make sure to be out at the park Saturday night!
