AEW Dynasty is this Sunday, and multiple championships will be on the line. Let’s break down the action coming out of St. Louis this weekend.

The Acclaimed and Billy Gunn will take on Bullet Club Gold in a unification of the ROH and AEW Trios Championships. This one really could go either way. This is a tale as old as time, friends turned enemies. My approach to a prediction really came to Billy Gunn. He has had a great run in AEW, but I don’t see him being there for any extended period of time. I look forward to the pace, smooth reversals, and high spots that these teams consistently provide. When all is said and done, I see Bullet Club Gold unifying these belts and introducing a new design.

Another trios match is set for Dynasty, Adam Copeland, Eddie Kingston, and Mark Briscoe will take on The House of Black. We have to start off by giving The House of Black a huge edge in athleticism and in-ring ability. That being said, we have three legends on the opposing side. There is no way AEW is going to book either of them to take a pin to The House of Black. I’m sad to say, temper expectations, especially with Adam Copeland and Eddie Kingston these days.

The FTW Championship will be on the line when Chris Jericho challenges Hook in an FTW Rules match. Hook defeated Jericho in what can only be described as a squash match. After the loss, Jericho has repeatedly tried to take Hook under his “Learning Tree” and take him to the next level. Hook has made it clear, he is not interested. I see Jericho taking Hook to a new level in this match, putting him over in a bloody brawl.

The AEW International Championship will be on the line Sunday, with Kyle O’Reilly challenging Roderick Strong. AEW really has not booked Kyle O’Reilly very well, and he has yet to gain any real momentum. On the other hand, Roderick Strong recently just won this title, and has been running with his new faction, Undisputed Kingdom. While I may be negative on this storyline and booking, these two will put on a great wrestling match. They know each other very well and have great in-ring skills separate from that. After a great match, I see Undisputed Kingdom using the number advantage to help Roderick Strong retain the AEW International Championship.

Willow Nightingale will challenge Julia Hart for the AEW TBS Championship in a House Rules match. Julia Hart has had a forgettable title reign and hasn’t seemed to develop into a dangerous champion. There is sure to be tons of drama with House Rules involved. Julia has been very friendly with Skye Blue as of late, and I’m sure she will play a factor in this match. With all that, I think Willow has some friends of her own who will play an even bigger factor, and help her become the new TBS Champion. Not to get too far ahead of myself, but I think Willow and Mercedes Mone will have a much better title picture than Julia and her trying to find herself.

Kazuchika Okada will be defending his AEW Continental Championship against Pac. This has match of the night potential. Both men will entertain you in the ring and leave you with unbelievable feats of athleticism. I wish this match would have a clean finish, but I don’t foresee it. After these men have one of the best matches of the year, I see The Young Bucks playing into a dirty finish, aiding Okada in retaining his championship.

The vacant AEW World Tag Team Championships will be hung high above the ring and on the line in a ladder match. The Young Bucks will face off against FTR. This one is going to be high-spot city, full of danger, reversals, speed, big falls, and more. I’m curious as to how much of the backstage politics will factor into this match, and as a wrestling fan, that’s not something you want on your mind watching a championship match. Both teams are among the greatest tag teams of all time, there’s no argument in that. Whoever wins this match will break the tie and have the record for most AEW Tag Team Championship runs in history. With that on the line, and sadly my prior remarks regarding backstage politics, I see The Young Bucks booking themselves to be the record holders. It would be a good look if they decided otherwise.

Toni Storm will defend the AEW Women’s World Championship against Thunder Rosa. While Thunder Rosa may be a world-traveled luchadora, Toni Storm is one of the biggest female names in AEW. Thunder Rosa is certainly a skilled wrestler, but she has yet to really click with the AEW audience completely. I predict “Timeless” Toni Storm will retain her championship.

Will this next match determine the best wrestler in the world? Bryan Danielson will take on Will Ospreay in a singles match. While I give the edge to Ospreay for in-ring skill, Danielson is probably the bigger draw and one of the best tacticians of all time. Danielson is on the home stretch of his career and has been on a path to put on some of the best matches of his career. Ospreay, in his early AEW career, already has multiple submissions for the best AEW match of all time. My prediction is for Danielson to put on one of the best matches of all time, but ultimately putting over Will Ospreay in an attempt to catapult his AEW career.

The final match to discuss involves the AEW World Championship. Swerve Strickland will try to take the championship from Samoa Joe. These two have been in a rivalry for quite a while now, which used to also include Hangman in the picture. Swerve has seemingly shaken off Hangman for a 1-on-1 opportunity at Samoa Joe. Samoa Joe is a legend who still has tons to give in the ring, but Swerve has been on a roll since coming to AEW. At the end of a bloody match with great false finishes, it feels like Swerve’s time. He was just as great before AEW, and it’s nice to see him make the most of it. Not only is he on a roll, not only does he deserve it, he has earned it.
