The SEC tournament was where Coach Elzy shined with the Cats, winning the 2022 SEC Tournament Championship over the top ranked and eventual NCAA Champion South Carolina Gamecocks. She won at least one SEC tournament game in all four of her years as coach and finished at Kentucky with an 8-3 SEC Tournament record.
This was Elzy’s second stint at Kentucky, she was as an assistant from 2008-2012 and again from 2016-2020 before she took over as head coach. The last two years have been a struggle going 12-19 in 2022-23 and 12-20 this season in 2023-24. It was Kentucky’s first back-to-back losing seasons since 2002-03 and 2003-04. The Cats had made 12 of the last 16 NCAA tournaments between 2006 and 2022.
