Wednesday’s contest between the Georgia Bulldogs (12-17) and Kentucky Wildcats (11-19) squaring off at Bon Secours Wellness Arena. The two teams played at Stegeman Coliseum in Georgia on Feb 4th where Georgia came out on top 72-65. The game will start at 11:00 AM ET on March 6. The Wildcats are coming off of a 77-56 loss to LSU in their final regular season game on Sunday.

In the first meeting, it was a back in forth affair as Kentucky jumped out to a 15 point lead. Then the Cats Ajae Petty picked up two fouls in the second quarter and was taken out. From there Georgia went on runs in thanks to Flournoy and Richardson to pull out the home win. The Cats were grossly out rebounded 43-23 and was a major reason for the Bulldogs comeback. The guard heavy Cats will have to crash the boards like they did Sunday against Angel Reese and LSU.

Saniah Tyler came away with 18 against the Bulldogs and was a boost to her resurgence down the stretch of the season. Tyler has averaged 15.3 ppg, 14 made 3FG, 51.9% from behind the arc in her last four games. Petty will need a similar showing as her solid game against LSU with 13 points and 15 boards.

Head Coach Kyra Elzy has had impressive performances in the SEC tournament the last two years. Last season the under .500 Cats made a run to the semifinals falling short against the Tennessee Vols. In 2022 her Wildcats shocked the number one ranked South Carolina Gamecocks 64-62 to win the schools second ever Women’s SEC Tournament. Coach Elzy will be looking to continue her SEC tournament success.
