Mocs’ Balanced Attack Overpowers Wofford in 61‑42 Victory

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Chattanooga came out with urgency and never looked back, building a double-digit lead early that Wofford couldn’t overcome. The Mocs jumped ahead 14-11 after the first quarter behind physical interior play and crisp ball movement. Chattanooga extended the margin to 24-18 by halftime with strong defense that forced quick Wofford shots. Wofford managed only seven second-quarter points, struggling to break Chattanooga’s pressure. The Mocs dominated the fourth quarter with a 22-8 run that put the game away. Chattanooga’s balanced scoring and disciplined execution dictated the pace all night. Final: Chattanooga 61, Wofford 42.

Key Performers: Mundy, Ikhiuwu Carry Terrier Offense

Wofford’s Gabby Mundy led all scorers for the Terriers with 13 points on 5-of-11 shooting. She also grabbed seven rebounds but battled foul trouble that limited her late opportunities. Queen Ikhiuwu added 10 points and chipped in two rebounds but shot just 4-for-16 from the field. Toni Warren scored nine, connecting early from beyond the arc, and Maddie Heiss had eight points with two triples. Backup minutes were sparse, and Wofford’s bench offered little scoring support. The Terriers finished 34 percent from the field and 27 percent from three. Chattanooga’s defense forced Wofford into 17 turnovers.

Chattanooga Firepower and Defensive Impact

Chattanooga’s attack was balanced. Senior forward Kalifa Ford paced the Mocs with 20 points, converting efficiently and knocking down key jumpers. Guard Caia Elisaldez facilitated Chattanooga’s offense, collecting multiple assists and making timely baskets. Wofford couldn’t contain Chattanooga’s movement, especially off screens and in transition. The Mocs outrebounded the Terriers 51-25, turning boards into second-chance points that kept Wofford on its heels. Chattanooga’s defense bottled up Wofford’s leading creators, holding the Terriers to just 42 points — one of their lowest outputs this season.

Wofford Struggles to Sustain Offense

Wofford opened sharp inside but could not sustain rhythm against Chattanooga’s length. The Terriers hit some early shots, including a Mundy runner and an Ikhiuwu layup to stay close in the first period. But Chattanooga countered each time with strong post presence and quicker ball reversal. Wofford’s turnovers led to easy Mocs baskets, and the Terriers had trouble converting in the paint. Their 4-for-4 free-throw night was one bright spot, but it was not enough to halve the deficit. Chattanooga’s disciplined half-court defense limited open looks for Wofford from deep.

What This Means for Wofford

The loss drops Wofford to 6-9 overall and 0-1 in Southern Conference play, putting pressure on the Terriers to rebound quickly. Their quick turnaround comes with conference games heating up. Wofford must tighten ball security and find more consistent scoring from its bench. Chattanooga, by contrast, improves to 9-5 and 1-0 in league play, asserting early SoCon strength. Wofford will look to bounce back when they return home for upcoming matchups.
