The Clemson Tigers pulled off a dramatic 20–19 road victory over No. 20 Louisville, securing their fifth win of the 2025 season and positioning themselves just one victory away from bowl eligibility.
A Gritty Win in Louisville
On Friday night, Clemson battled through adversity in Louisville, overcoming a swarming defense, a botched punt snap by the Cardinals, and a tense goal-line showdown. Running back Adam Randall carried the load, rushing for 105 yards and scoring two touchdowns, including the game-winner on a 1-yard plunge with just 7:16 left in the fourth quarter.
Quarterback Cade Klubnik also stepped up, completing 22 of 34 passes for 187 yards without throwing an interception. On defense, linebacker Sammy Brown led Clemson with 11 tackles (including two for loss), and cornerback Avieon Terrell forced a fumble to extend his school record.
Significance of the Win
This victory moves Clemson to 5–5 overall and 4–4 in the ACC, meaning they now need just one more win to reach the six-win mark required for bowl eligibility. It also solidifies their dominance over Louisville on the road — Clemson is now 5–0 all time in Louisville.
The Tigers’ win also snapped Louisville’s 23-game streak of scoring 24+ points in a game. Clemson’s defense stepped up when it mattered most, holding the Cardinals scoreless on their final four drives — including blocking a field goal attempt late in the game.
Looking Ahead: Furman Next
With bowl eligibility now within reach, Clemson returns home for Senior Day and Military Appreciation Day, hosting Furman on November 22. The match-up heavily favors the Tigers: Clemson has never lost to Furman since 1936, and they remain unbeaten against FCS opponents in modern times.
If Clemson wins that game, they will likely extend their long postseason streak and secure their 21st consecutive bowl appearance.
