Machowski’s Big Day Powers Terriers Past Knights 94–86

Machowski Leads with 28 as Terriers Drain 16 Threes

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Wofford delivered its most explosive offensive performance of the young season, drilling 16 three-pointers and riding a career outing from junior guard Nils Machowski to a 94–86 win over Bellarmine on Saturday afternoon at Knights Hall. The victory evens the Terriers at 2–2, while the Knights fall to 1–3.

Machowski paced Wofford with 28 points, shooting 5-of-11 from the field and a blistering 14-of-16 at the line. His energy and downhill attacks ignited stretches where Wofford took full control, especially late in the first half when he buried a four-point play that sparked a surge the Knights never fully recovered from.

Three-Point Barrage Breaks Game Open Early

The Terriers were nearly unstoppable from deep in the opening half, hitting 12 of their first 14 three-pointers and finishing the day 16-for-28 (57.1%) from long range. Wofford shot 54.9% overall, efficiently mixing catch-and-shoot looks with strong ball movement.

That early barrage gave the Terriers a cushion they leaned on when Bellarmine tried to mount late pushes. Wofford’s spacing and quick decision-making repeatedly forced the Knights into mismatches and late rotations, leaving shooters wide open.

Knights Counter, But Terriers Answer Every Run

Bellarmine stayed competitive behind a pair of standout performances. Brian Waddell scored 23 points on 9-of-13 shooting, while forward Jack Karasinski added 23 points and hit 10-of-13 from the free-throw line. Their production kept the Knights within striking distance at multiple points.

But every time Bellarmine threatened, Wofford responded — typically with a timely three or a composed half-court possession. The Terriers’ poise with the lead proved vital as Bellarmine chipped at the margin, but never got the game within true upset range.

Holmes, Flynn Provide Balance Around Machowski

Machowski carried the scoring load, but sophomore guard Kahmare Holmes and forward Luke Flynn were equally important in maintaining tempo and shot quality. Holmes added 24 points on 8-of-12 shooting, drilling 5-of-6 from three and serving as Wofford’s secondary shot-creator.

Flynn contributed 16 points, including 3-of-6 from deep, and gave the Terriers clean looks off flare screens and pick-and-pop actions. Their presence kept Bellarmine’s defense spread thin, making it nearly impossible to key solely on Machowski.

Execution and Composure Seal Road Victory

Down the stretch, Wofford’s composure stood out. The Terriers made the extra pass, protected the ball in high-pressure moments, and mixed their looks enough to keep the Knights guessing. Defensively, Wofford didn’t dominate, but it got timely stops and held Bellarmine to just 5-of-19 from three (26.3%) — the key difference given the Terriers’ long-range production.

Wofford also matched Bellarmine’s physicality on the glass, with a tight 29–28 rebounding edge, and used its passing game to create separation, finishing with a decisive 25–11 assist advantage.

Terriers Build Momentum Ahead of Home Stretch

The win gives Wofford valuable momentum as they continue to shape their early-season identity. When the Terriers shoot like they did Saturday — confidently, collectively, and with rhythm — they look capable of beating anyone on their schedule.

Bellarmine, meanwhile, showed individual firepower but struggled to keep pace with Wofford’s spacing and perimeter accuracy.
