The No. 16-ranked Wake Forest women’s soccer team (8-1-2, 2-0-1 ACC) remained unbeaten in ACC play and stole a point on the road with a 0-0 draw against Boston College (4-2-4, 0-1-1 ACC) Sunday afternoon at the Newton Soccer Complex.

Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Valentina Amaral secured her sixth solo clean sheet of the season, which is tied for the most in the ACC, and the 13th of her career. The Oviedo, Fla.-native holds a stellar 20-4-5 record in starts over her three-year career. Additionally, she racked up four saves on the day to improve her season save percentage to .833, the fourth highest in the conference.

Five outfield players went the full 90 for the Demon Deacons, including Laine DeNatale, Tahlia Zadeyan, Sierra Sythe and Dempsey Brown, who helped limit chances for the hosts throughout the contest and didn’t allow a shot on-goal in the second half. Freshman forward Kylie Maxwell also went the full 90 for the first time in her career.

Wake Forest is now 2-0-1 in ACC play and is second in the conference with seven points. Of note, seven points is the most for the Demon Deacons through three matches since 2013. The Deacs are also one of just six teams that remain unbeaten in ACC play.

From Coach da Luz
“Our team did everything to win the game, but we had to settle for a point today. Boston College is a fast-paced physical team that presented many problems, but I felt like we had much more of the second half and almost won it at the end. We earned another shutout, and Valentina Amaral and the backline played very well. Kylie Maxwell and Sierra Sythe were dangerous all game. We fought hard showing grit on the road.”
