
The Furman men’s soccer team, ranked No. 9 in this week’s Top Drawer Soccer Top 25, makes its way to Blacksburg, Va., on Tuesday for a top 10 battle against the fifth-ranked Virginia Tech Hokies.

Furman enters the match at 3-0-2 following a 3-2 victory over Davidson last Thursday night at Stone Soccer Stadium. Junior Diego Hernandez bagged two first-half goals and Furman held off a late rally by the Wildcats with the help of sophomore Wilfer Bustamante’s second-half tally.

Virginia Tech is 2-0-2 on the season after forging a 2-2 draw against rival Virginia this past weekend. The Hokies claimed a 3-0 victory versus the Paladins in the only previous meeting between the schools on September 8, 2024, in Greenville, S.C.

Tuesday’s matchup marks the first of two top 10 match-up this week for the Paladins who travel to face eighth-ranked and unbeaten Gardner-Webb on Friday night in Boiling Springs, N.C.
