Spartans Spoil Catamounts Comeback

The #1 seed UNC-Greensboro Spartans was able on the opening day of the SoCon tournament to end the chance of the Western Carolina Catamounts 50-43. The Spartans was led by Jaila Lee who had 14 points, 3 rebounds, while going 5-10 from FG range, as Khalis Cail showed her skills with 15 rebounds, 13 points, and 3 assist in a game that was close till the final minute.

The first half came to a close with WCU coming back from a rough start and getting to within 1 13-12, as they head into the second half UNCG pulled away with a 15-7 quarter of play going into halftime ahead 28-19. WCU wound come out shooting 3’s and chipping away at the lead and score 19-13 versus the Spartans and get the game close. The fourth quarter would then become a defensive battle as rebounds and mis opportunities would be the downfall of the Catamounts as they had 5 points to UNCG’s 9 and UNC Greensboro would win the game 50-43 and advance in the tournament.
