Saturday the Lady Blue Hose scored a big 78-71 victory over Radford on the road. Radford came into the game as the number 3 team in the conference and was primed to try to have the momentum going into the Big South tournament. However, Coach Sardin and her Blue Hose were not going to be intimidated or denied. As in previous conversations Coach Sardin had said that she felt that they could win this game if they limited the mistakes and played good defense. She stressed that she wanted them to be more aggressive and get to the line more. Well they did as just that as they got to the line 10 times in the 4th quarter and held Radford to only 42% shooting from the field.
The first quarter would start out with a bang as Paige Kindseth would start a night off that would turn out to be a career game for her. She scored the first 8 points for PC as the Blue Hose would jump out to an 8-4 lead wtih 5:46 left in the quarter. After the 1st media timeout Daniella Velez would score her first 2 points on a layup which would give PC a 12-6 lead. Radford would bounce back and score 4 straight points to cut into the lead but PC would answer with a 5-2 run to end the quarter with a 17-12 lead which was capped off with by layup by Kishyah Anderson with just 22 seconds left in the quarter.
The 2nd quarter would start out really tough for the Lady Blue Hose as Radford would open up with an 18-0 run which would give them a 30-17 lead with just a little over 2 minutes left in the half. Shelby Fiddler would end that run with one of her many 3’s on the night and then would bring us to the half with another 3 at the buzzer and the Blue Hose would go into the half down 37-28. PC showed how they have grown as a team because when Radford went on their run the Blue Hose would not panic and stayed with their gameplan.

I do not know what Coach Sardin said to the women at the half but PC would come out on fire and would score the first 5 points of the quarter and took the rowdy crowd out of the game. PC would cut the lead to 37-33 behind a brilliant jumper from Kindseth and another 3 from Fiddler. After Kindseth would knock down another jumper they would cut The Highlanders lead to 2 points. Radford would come out of the time out and score they next 5 points to expand their lead but Fiddler would knock down another 3 and Kishyah Anderson would take her talents to the line to knock down both free throws. The lead was now cut to 1 45-44 and we were in a dog fight. Both teams really came out ready to play and this was setting up to be a fantastic game. After Radford pushed the ball inside to bring the lead to 3, Aminata Tal would bring her energy off of the bench and score the next 5 points for PC. 3 of her 5 points would be off of a bank shot 3 at the buzzer and PC was back in front 53-51.
Tal would continue her brilliant scoring as she would put up the first 2 points of the quarter. A couple quick buckets by Radford would cut the lead to 2 but PC would then go on a 6-1 run and take a commanding 61-54 lead. 7 points doesn’t seem commanding but in a game that has been so close throughout this seemed like PC was taking control. With 6 minutes left it seemed that PC would was on their way. Radford would not go away and would continue to knock down buckets as they did shoot 52% for the game. However, timely free by Tal and Anderson would seal the deal and PC would score a huge win over a tough Radford team. They would leave Virginia with a 78-71 victory.
Paige would finished the game with a career high 28 points and 16 boards while she wold continue her streak of double-doubles. Fiddler would finish with 17 off of 5-11 shooting from behind the arc. Kishyah Anderson would also finish in double figures with 11. This was a total team as PC would also finish with 22 points from the bench which was lead by Aminata Tal. PC will close out their regular season next Wednesday against UNC Asheville as they prepare to make a run in the Big South tournament.
