The first twelve team playoff national championship game is set between two blue bloods in College Football with Ohio State and Notre Dame. I picked Georgia and Oregon at the beginning of the year, yet here we are. However, today, I am here to tell you why OSU will win over Notre Dame and there’s more than one reason.
- Chip Kelly’s Offense
We have seen numerous head coaches step away from their programs because of NIL and the transfer portal recently including, Sean Elliot of Georgia State, numerous head basketball coaches, and obviously Chip Kelly who left UCLA to join Ryan Day at Ohio State. My main reason for this logic is because without searching, I could not tell you who the offensive coordinator of Notre Dame is. I know Chip and his dynamic offenses, and they have come to play in these playoffs. We saw them jump out to big leads against both Tennessee and Oregon seemingly easily, and I don’t know that Notre Dame can keep up on the offensive side of the ball. Here are some stats to back this up, and these are the scary numbers a Chip Kelly offense can produce for running backs.

2) Jeremiah Smith
I only need one name to describe this number two reason. Jeremiah Smith is NFL ready right now as a freshman. I thought the freshman wide receiver from Alabama, Ryan Williams, would give him a run for his money, but throughout the season Jeremiah has improved and looked absolutely dynamic. I know Notre Dame has a good defense, but i fear that Ohio State may have way too many weapons for Notre Dame to account for over the course of a full game.

3) Ohio State Defense
In their two losses to Oregon and Michigan, Ohio State had 0 sacks. Their defense has come on and stepped up in the playoffs. Big plays against Tennessee, Oregon, and now Texas with Sawyer capping it all off here against Texas.

4) Does Notre Dame have anything outside of Riley Leonard and a run game?
That is a loaded question, as I know, Notre Dame has good running backs with Love, Ford, and Payne. I just feel as though the Ohio State front seven really focuses on stopping the run which will force Leonard to beat them with his arm. I just don’t know that will happen because of the lack of dynamic wide receiver play. Therefore, give me Ohio State winning the National Championship with relative ease.
Mark of greenvillesportsmedia.com will give you reasons why Notre Dame wins, but as of now, I bet he can’t beat my points. Also tune in to Southern Fried Sports with myself on Monday, Thursday, and Saturday! Y’all be blessed, not stressed and just be kind!
