The Atlanta Falcons released Ade Ogundeji, defensive lineman a 2021 draft pick. The 25-year-old played in 32 games with the team his entire career at Atlanta, they drafted him 182 out of Notre Dame in 2021. He spent his entire 2023 year on injured reserve which might have led to his release.

The Falcons released outside linebacker Ade Ogundeji, the team announced. Ogundeji is a former Atlanta draft pick who started a good bit in 2021-22 but sustained a foot injury in the 2023 training camp that sidelined him all season.

Ogundeji release means that half of the 2021 draft class is no longer with the team. He was able to have 75 tackles,8 tackles for loss in 32 contests, with 3 sacks and 3 3 QB hits. Atlanta had addressed the line in day 2 of the draft, so his release seemed to be a possible happening. Falcons will be saving up to 3 million in cap space with the release of Ogundeji.

The Falcons also made another move in signing CB Anthony Johnson off the Green Bay Packers, by way of the Saints. He didn’t appear in any games in 2023 but was on the Packers scout squad. Johnson spent six seasons in the NCAA, playing for Louisville from 2018-20 and Virginia from 2021-22. It was with the Cavaliers that Johnson did his best collegiate work. In those two seasons, he made 60 tackles, 17 pass breakups and five interceptions through 22 games.
