Nashville, TN- Same story different venue. This time it was in Memorial Gym in Nashville, Tennessee. Another House of Horrors for #13 Auburn just like Bud Walton Arena in Arkansas where Auburn exorcised their demons with a 31-point victory over Arkansas.

Auburn jumped out to a big lead using its depth and a hot start from Jaylin Williams. The Tigers fell behind 14-16 with 12:32 to go in the first half then closed the half on a 27-8 run. Williams, Auburn’s Swiss Army knife of a player, lead all scorers with 17 in the first half. Auburn’s bench had 12 points, outscoring Vanderbilt’s bench by 10.

Auburn’s defense put a strangle hold on Vanderbilt early on allowing the Tigers to go on their offensive run. The Tigers’ other advantages were points in the paint giving Auburn 20-8 first half points.

The second half was more of the same. Jaylin Williams led all scorers for the game with 21 on 7-7 shooting. Jaylin was also perfect from the charity stripe going 5-5. This game could have been worse than an 80-65 Auburn victory, but Jason Rivera-Torres put up 14 off the bench for Vanderbilt. Auburn’s bench outscored the Commodores’ bench 29-21 for the game.

Auburn shot 27-58 from the field for 46.6% and 8-25 from behind the arc for 32% while Vanderbilt shot 20-53 for 37.7% and 4-18 for 22.2%. The Tigers out rebounded the ‘dores 39-30 lead by Johni Broome with 12. Broome went for his went for his seventh double-double of the year with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Other notable Tigers Aiden Holloway went for 10 points and Dylan Cardwell went for 12 points and 6 rebounds.

Auburn improves to 15-2 overall 4-0 in the SEC while Vanderbilt fell to 5-12 overall and 0-4 in the SEC. Auburn’s next game will be Saturday night at home versus Ole Miss inside Neville Arena at 7:30pm CT on the SEC Network.
