BLACKSBURG, Va. (Sept. 8, 2026) – The ETSU men’s soccer team will make a short trip up I-81 on Wednesday for a midweek visit to Virginia Tech. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. at Thompson Field and on ACC Network Xtra.

The Bucs have lost three straight after starting the season with a win at Queens, the latest setback being a 4-3 loss to Longwood that ended with the Bucs being on the wrong side of a penalty kick in the final minutes. Elliot Edwards and Matias Delellis scored their first collegiate goals, and Edwards picked up an assist. Jaime Carrillo also scored late in the first half.
The Hokies opened ACC play on Saturday with a 1-1 draw at N.C. State. They have won six straight at home dating back to October 7, 2025, and have a 7-0 win over Howard and a 3-0 win over Kentucky on the ledger for 2026. They are 13-3-4 at home since the start of 2024. The Hokies are backstopped by Temple transfer Diego Dauzier. The junior from New Jersey ranks 25th in Division I with a 0.528 goals against average, and his 0.867 save percentage is 16th in the country and tops in the ACC.
This is the seventh meeting between ETSU and Virginia Tech in men’s soccer. The Hokies have won the last four, including a 1-0 win in Johnson City on September 29 of last year. ETSU’s only win in the series was a 1-0 victory on September 20, 2011, when David Geno scored in the 77th minute to lift the No. 22 Buccaneers past the Hokies at Summers-Taylor Stadium.
