MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Seven different Wake Forest (39-20) hitters recorded at least one hit with five multi-hit efforts, as the Demon Deacons slugged their way past Binghamton (31-22), 12-3, on Saturday afternoon at Kendrick Family Ballpark.

Junior Blake Schaaf led the way with a 4-for-4 day with a pair of runs scored, a double, a pair of RBI singles and a walk. The four hits matched Schaaf’s career high, which he had set during the series-opening win over NC State on April 17.

FROM COACH WALTER
“It’s a great team win. I’m really proud of our guys and the way they came out and competed today. I thought we competed well yesterday. We limited the free 90s today, which was huge. We only had three on the day. Obviously, some great individual performances, Blake Schaaf here on my left, Zach Johnston, came in in a big situation, the game’s still on the line. It’s 10-3 with nobody out and gets a punchout and a double-play ball to get us in the dugout. That was really the difference in the game. I thought Cameron Bagwell threw the ball really well. I think he got a little tired there at the end, the long innings of being in the dugout. The one inning his pitch count got up over 30. I thought about not running him back out there in the sixth, but he talked me into it and Zach had to come in and bail us out. So, great team win, and it’s good to still be playing baseball.” – Head Coach Tom Walter

UP NEXT
Wake Forest will look to continue fighting through the losers’ bracket tomorrow against the loser of West Virginia and Kentucky. First pitch is set for noon ET with TV designation to be determined.
