Tar Heels Looking to Secure Season Win Over Rival Blue Devils
It has been a very strange stretch for the Diamond Heels. After knocking off #2 Georgia Tech, the Tar Heels have only won3 of their last 6 games and have looked incredibly sloppy in the process. The Heels have completely forgotten how to do what they do well. Defense has fallen off, fielding has been highly suspect, pitching has been shaky, and the bats have been quiet. At what point should there be cause for concern in Chapel Hill?
The Diamond Heels looked like the best team in college baseball for the first two games of their series against Georgia Tech. The Heels put up 19 runs and run ruled the Yellow Jackets across 17 innings of play. Since then, the Heels have looked like a completely different team. The Heels dropped the third game of the GT series and a game against Duke last weekend. Carolina also got embarrassed by Coastal Carolinaon Tuesday at home at Boshamer stadium 12-2. The Diamond Heels matchup against Queens the following day was then cancelled due to inclement weather (RPI).
Today, the Diamond Heels take on hated arch-rival Duke Blue Devils in a standalone game here at the Bosh. The Blue Devils are looking to go even on the year while the Tar Heels are looking to secure a winning record. At this point in the season there are two main focuses for the the Daimond Heels. Coach Forbes has the team focused on ACC tournament seeding and hostinga super regional. Getting things back on track with a win today would go a long way towards making that a reality.
