The Anderson Trojans Baseball (18-17, 6-16 SAC) welcome to Anderson Memorial Stadium the top ranked #3 Catawba Indians (26-7, 18-4 SAC) Saturday midday battle. Friday night the Trojans upset the Indians who are out to get the series even. The Trojans will be led by Pitcher Cole Davis while the Indians will start Pitcher Kemper Nix.

The Trojans strike first in the bottom of the first inning when Zach Stover drives in a run, then that is followed up by a huge homerun by #2 Myles Denton, and the Trojans quickly jump out to a 3-0 lead over the Indians with only one out. Nix walks two more batters and is taken out and replaced by Pitcher Parker Lakey to try and stop the Trojan offense. he gives up a hit but has the Trojans hit into a double play that ends the inning.

Top of the second, and #13 Matthew Connolly gets an RBI for Catawba, and the score is now 3-1 Trojans in the lead heading to the bottom of the second inning. The Trojans would strike fast and get a huge homerun by #16 Braeden Harrison and its back to a 3-run lead 4-1. Catawba is able to get out of the inning without more trouble and we head to the top of the third.

The game stay at 4-1 Trojans till the 6th inning when Catawba Indians get 3 runs off a homer by #13 Matthew Connolly and makes the score all tied up heading to the bottom of the 6th inning. The Trojans though would make sure that is short lived and nail a homerun also to take back the lead when #12 Levi Medford put it over left center. The Trojans now lead 5-4 as we head to the 7th inning of play.

After Catawba regained the lead with a three-run sixth inning, Anderson answered with a run in the bottom half and threatened late but left the tying run on base as Catawba escaped with the win.

The Indians built a lead early and added on in the middle innings, totaling 13 hits in the contest. Anderson broke through late, scoring once in the sixth inning on an RBI single from Dom Bello (Orlando, Fla.), and again in the seventh on a solo home run by Bryce Helms (Columbia, S.C.).

Brooks Mauro (Waxhaw, N.C.) led the Trojans with two hits, while Myles Denton (Brentwood, Tenn.) also added a hit and scored a run.
Despite scattering eight hits, Anderson was unable to generate sustained offense as Catawba closed out the 8-2 win.
