“What a great performance all around!” said head coach Kelly Roberts. “We were sharp at the plate, solid on defense, and our pitchers came through when we needed them – that’s a complete team win.”
The Trojans boasted 10 runs in game one of the doubleheaders with hits from seniors Carson Hobbs (Nicholson, Ga.), Katie Morris (Valley, Ala.) and freshman Lily Davenport (Wetumpka, Ala.). Hobbs posted a double down the left field line for the first hit of the game to bring in three runs before Morris followed with a single to shortstop for a single RBI. Davenport’s single to shortstop brought another Trojan home.
Six Trojans recorded a single RBI while Hobbs led the Black and Gold with three runs, going 1-for-2 at bat with one run. Senior Lauren Brakovek (Farragut, Tenn.) and junior Kadence Barrick (Phenix City, Ala.) each went 2-for-3 at the plate with one run and one RBI. Brakovec also had an incredible performance in the field posting 10 putouts out of 11 chances along with a single assist for a 1.00 fielding percentage.
