Deacs Superstar Juke Harris Has Career High in Loss

The Deacs suffered an absolutely brutal 68-67 loss to the Boston College Eagles on Wednesday night. Juke Harris had a career high in points but it wasn’t enough to make the difference. BC was 9-18 coming into this contest, sporting an 8-game losing streak. Fred Payne led the Eagles in scoring with 23 points on 8-20 shooting. The Eagles are now just 3-12 in the year 2026.

Juke Harris

Juke Harris, yet again, put on one of the greatest displays of basketball I have ever seen. Juke Harris scored 38 points against BC, outscoring the rest of the Deacs roster by himself. Harris played all but 1 minutes of this game, meaning he nearly scored 1 point per minute. Harris had the 38 points on 12-19 shooting, good for an absurd 63.1%. Harris went 50% from beyond the arc on 6-12 shooting. Juke Harris had 6 rebounds, an assist, and went 8-9 from the free throw line.

As A Team

It wouldn’t be hard to argue that this was the Deacs worst performance of the year. At a minimum, this was possibly the worst showing in ACC play outside of the loss at Duke. Juke Harris really carried this team tonight, so the numbers in the box score aren’t really an accurate representation of reality. On paper, the Deacs shot 35% from the field, 33% from three, and 76% from the free throw line. Not great, but not bad. T

Those same stats without Juke Harris’ numbers? The rest of the team shot 23.3% from the field on only 10-43. This included a pretty abysmal 4-18 from three, good for a paltry 22%. The Deacs Fared about as well on defense, allowing the Eagles to shoot 43% from the field. Despite the higher number, Wake Forest held the Eagles to just 25% from three. The Deacs also won the rebounding battle 39-38, shot more free throws than the Eagles, and made as many free throws as they Eagles got free throw attempts.

Moving Forward

It is difficult to state how catastrophic tonight’s loss could end up being for the Deacs. This was the teams chance to put some real cushion between themselves and the ACC tournament cut line. The Deacs now sit 14th in the ACC standings, 2 games ahead of the Fighting Irish in 15th, and 1 game behind Syracuse in 13th. The Deacs are projected to lose on the road against Virginia, which means that 2 game lead on the Irish should probably be treated like it is only 1. This means the two other remaining games, both at home, are absolutely must win games if Wake Forest is to qualify for the ACC men’s basketball tournament.

The Deacs are back home at LJVM Coliseum this Saturday in what is essentially a play-in game against Syracuse. To be clear, if the Deacs lose to either Syracuse or Cal, they will miss both the ACC tournament and the NCAA tournament. Do or die time for Coach Forbes and the Demon Deacons.
