Eight different Paladins scored on Saturday afternoon as the Furman women’s lacrosse team powered past the Radford Highlanders, 17-9, in Big South Conference action from Paladin Stadium.

Furman pushes its winning streak to three consecutive games, improving to 6-5 overall and 2-0 in the Big South. With the loss, Radford falls to 1-9 on the season and 0-1 in league play.

Lily Toole’s season high seven points guided the Paladins offensively after registering five goals and two assists. Shae Insinga scored five times, and Allie Kandel added five points on three assists and two goals. Defensively, Zoe Milmoe picked up four ground balls and caused two turnovers along with Charlotte Kent and Rachel Sbei. Cate Noone scored once and won a career high five draws. Goalie Sam Melville collected the win after finishing with 11 saves and one ground ball.
Mady Cheney and Molly O’Brien both compiled three points for the Highlanders. Cheney provided two goals and an assist, and O’Brien totaled three goals. In goal, Ava LaManna tallied 12 saves and one ground ball.

Furman opened the contest scoring three of the first four goals when Radford answered with two of the next three to cut the Paladins’ lead down to 4-3 with 7:47 remaining in the second quarter. Insinga recorded back-to-back goals to close out the half as Furman held a 6-3 lead at intermission. The Paladins continued their run into the second half, scoring five of the following six to extend the lead to 11-4 early in the fourth quarter. Toole scored three times during the run with her last putting Furman ahead by seven at the 13:26 mark of the fourth quarter.

The teams combined for 12 goals in the final period with the Paladins holding a 7-5 advantage over the final 15 minutes. Noone’s first collegiate goal with 1:08 remaining in the contest put Furman ahead, 17-8. Reeve Goldstein also netted her first career goal just over a minute before Noone. The Paladins saw six different players score in the quarter.
Furman concluded the game holding a 44-28 advantage in shots, 19-15 in ground balls, 14-13 in draws, and 10-4 in caused turnovers. The 44 shots are tied for fourth-most in a game in program history. The Paladins’ nine turnovers are also the fewest turned in this season.
