Trojans’ Tournament Run Ends To Carson-Newman 73-67 in SAC Semifinals
ROCK HILL, S.C. — The No. 8 seeded Trojans’ historic South Atlantic Conference Tournament run came to an end on Friday afternoon with a 73-67 loss to No. 4 Carson-Newman in the semifinals. The Trojans entered the semifinals after a major upset in the quarterfinals, taking down No. 1 Lenoir-Rhyne 79-63.

The Trojans battled through 11 lead changes and seven tie scores but were unable to gain a lead of more than four. Seven of the lead changes came in the first half as the two teams went into the locker room tied 38-38. The Trojans closed the first half on an 11-6 run.

The start of the second half was much of the same before the Eagles gained control late, closing the third quarter on a 12-3 run. The Trojans were unable to regain a lead in the fourth quarter despite winning it 14-13.

As a team the Trojans shot 37.3 percent the field and went 10-11 from the line. They tied their season-low of seven turnovers, but Carson-Newman had the advantage on the boards 42-33.

Senior Ashlyn Sheridan (Knoxville, Tenn.) led the Trojans with 13 points and seven rebounds. She drained three triples and added one block.

Graduate student Ciara Harris (Alexandria, Va.) had 12 points with a team-high eight rebounds.
Junior Jessica Cooper (South Plainfield, N.J.) had her third double-digit game of the season, coming off the bench for 10 points on 4-5 shooting with two rebounds in just nine minutes of play.
Freshman Ashley Hill (Covington, Ga.) came up with nine points, three rebounds and two assists.
Sophomore Jaida Brooks (Phoenix, Ariz.) dropped eight points with three rebounds and a team-high five assists.
Junior Kyla Cain (Atlanta, Ga.) had six points and three rebounds.
Senior Alana Eakle (Westmoreland, Tenn.) came off the bench for five points and two assists.
Senior Khiara Flugence (Boerne, Texas) and junior Jayla Cal (Gilbert, Ariz.) had two points each to round out the scoring for the Trojans.
Anderson finishes the season with an overall record of 13-17 and a SAC record of 9-14.
