Anderson University Men’s Basketball (20-1, 14-1 SAC) remain undefeated at home after topping conference opponent Newberry (10-11, 6-9 SAC) in a 73-58 victory. Carson-Newman (13-8, 8-7 South Atlantic Conference) was staring down the barrel of a 13-point deficit in the first half against a UVA Wise (17-6, 10-5 SAC) team that was tied for second in the SAC standings. Both teams meet up today to battle for a top spot in the SAC standing with the tournament coming up soon.

The first half starts off with the Eagles jumping out to a lead and keeping the Trojans down, but Rashawn Inglemon catches fire and gets 6 points quick and brings the Trojans back to within 5 points with just over 7 minutes left 15-20 Eagles leading. The Trojans with 4 minutes left are now down 24-22 as Carson Newman is playing great defense and yet having to struggle with shooting. Carson Newman keeps Anderson out of the lead as we head into halftime Trojans down 28-25. Osmar Garcia leads the Trojans with 7 points with two Trojans with 6 points. Carson-Newman was led by Jack Browder with 9 points in the half.

The Trojans come out in the second half and really get the best of the Eagles. This has been a low scoring affair the ref is taken out, and we are at a 36-31 game with Anderson in the lead over Carson-Newman and we are at a standstill as we wait to see if he is ok. After several minutes the ref is out of the locker-room to an ovation and we are back to action with under 13 minutes to go in the game.

The game is now at 2:51 left and Anderson is holding on to a 55-46 low scoring game. Both teams are in the bonus as fouls have picked up on both sides. Rashawn Inglemon leads the Trojans with 17 points, and Kadyn Dawkins has 13 points as we come to under two minutes left. The student section today has been all over several Eagle players and has rattled the players in question. The Trojans hit two more shots to make the lead 60-48 and this game with 46 seconds left seems to be over for Carson Newman as they need a miracle to get the win.
