Lady Deacs Snap 8-Game Skid
The Lady Deacs ended an 8 game losing streak with a 70-65 comeback win against the SMU Mustangs on Thursday night. Aurora Sorbye led the way for Wake Forest with 18 points. Ayanna Thompson led the Mustangs in scoring with 17. This was a much needed win for the Lady Deacs, who essentially need to win out to have a shot at going dancing. This was a huge step in the right direction.

Super Sorbye
Aurora Sorbye tied her career high with 18 points on 6-8 shooting and 3-5 from three. Sorbye also had a rebound and 2 assists. Aurora Sorybe Continues to step up in the absence of Grace Oliver. The Lady Deacs offensive efficiency was very impressive against SMU. Three different players for Wake Forest shot over 50 percent from the field.
Milan Brown had an incredible performance as well. Brown had 15 points on 6-9 shooting. 3-6 from the line, 10 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals, and a block. This is one of the best all around single-game performances I have seen in the ACC this season.
As A Team
The Lady Deacs shot a very strong 49% from the field Thursday night against the Mustangs. This included 40$ from three, a mark the Lady Deacs have not hit since the loss to Virginia. However, the Lady Deacs shooting only 64% from the free throw line. Wake Forest also managed to outrebound SMU 32-28, something the Lady Deacs have struggled to do consistently in ACC play. The Demon Deacons managed to get 17 assists on 25 made field goals, good for a 68% assist rate. The Wake Forest bench combined for 11 points on 4-12 shooting, 1-4 from three, 2-2 from the line, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals, and a block.
Moving Forward
Up next, the Lady Deacs face the #25 UNC Tar Heels at home on Sunday at 2pm EST on the ACC Network. The win on Thursday night moves the Demon Deacons to 3-9 in ACC play and 13-11 overall. With the win over SMU, Wake Forest jumps into 14th place in the ACC standings. That means the Lady Deacs are officially above the cut line for the ACC tournament!
This is the third of 4 games for the Lady Deacs in the Tobacco Road Cup. Wake Forest is currently 4th in the standings, with the Tar Heels currently sitting in first place. If the Lady Deacs can get healthy and get consistent, there are plenty of opportunities left to be had.
