The Chanticleers—who were part of the Sun Belt’s 10-team bowl contingent that leads all non-autonomy conferences for the fourth-straight season—dropped to 2-4 in six all-time bowl appearances. Coastal Carolina led 14-3 at halftime, but was held scoreless after the break, as the Bulldogs scored 20 unanswered points in a comeback win.

Redshirt sophomore quarterback Tad Hudson capped lengthy first-half drives with a 20-yard touchdown strike to freshman running back Dominic Knicely and a 15-yard touchdown connection with redshirt sophomore wide receiver Robby Washington. Coastal Carolina’s defense recorded four takeaways, including three in plus territory, to keep the Chanticleers in contention through the final possession.

Hudson threw for 311 yards and two touchdowns, but conceded two interceptions in the fourth quarter, as the Coastal Carolina offense managed just 17 yards. Junior wide receiver Bryson Graves was his top target with six receptions for 99 yards. Linebackers’ sophomore Se’Von McDowell—with nine tackles and a tackle for loss—and redshirt junior Tray Brown—with eight tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and two forced fumbles—headlined the Chanticleer defensive effort.
