Coach Forbes Gets 100th Deac Win
Steve Forbes picked up his 100th win as the Demon Deacons head coach in a 111-73 win over the Queens University Royals. Coach Forbes has been with Wake Forest since the 2020 season, and holds a 229-111 record overall as a head coach. Coach Forbes is also the 3rd fastest coach to 100 wins in program history.
Myles Colvin had an outstanding night, scoring 33 points on an incredible 11-13 shotting. This was good for a remarkable 84.6 percent shooting performance. Juke Harris had a rare shaky day from the field, but was a flawless 7 of 7 from the free throw line, and 14 total points. He also grabbed 5 boards and had 3 assists and a turnover. Nate Calmese had 15 points on 5-7 shooting, including 3-5 from 3 point range. Omaha Biliew had 16 points on 5-7 shooting, going 4-6 from three. Sebastian Akins had 6 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists.
Perhaps most noteworthy, the Demon Deacons had 7 players score off of the bench. This meant that all but 2 players on the roster got points, and the entire roster was able to get on the court and contribute today. Any time that happens, you’re doing things right. As a team the Deacs shot 62% from the field, 52% from three, and 92% from the free throw line. The Demon Deacons outrebounded the Royals 33-19, with 26 of those rebounds coming on defense.
This was an all around strong team performance from a very capable Wake Forest team. Tonight was an example of just how good this team can be when things go right. The Demon Deacons moved to 8-3 on the season. Up next, the Deacs host the Longwood Lancers, a 6-6 squad out of the Big South. Steve Forbes outfit has a 97.1% chance to win according to ESPN Analytics.
