FINAL: Washington 3 Furman 0
December 12,2025
Cary, NC-On a chilly winter night at WakeMed Soccer Park, the 2025 Men’s NCAA College Cup Semifinals kicked off in front of a sold out crowd. The first match of the night between the 15 seed Washington Huskies and the Furman Paladins was full of excitement and entertainment. Both teams were hungry for a trip to the College Cup Championship on Monday. The Huskies offense though proved to be too much for the Paladins as they cruised to the Championship game on Monday.
1st Half Offense Powers Huskies
The first half went swimmingly for the Huskies as their offense seemingly dominated for a majority of the half. The Huskies finished the half with 12 shots and 4 of those going on goal. Washington nearly opened the scoring at the 28:59 mark as Harrison Bentos nicked one off the crossbar to open up the match offensively for the Huskies The Huskies would take a 1-0 lead in the 32nd minute when Zach Ramsey converted on beautiful assist from Alex Hall to open the scoring.
Seven minutes later, the Huskies would strike again when Charlie Kosakoff converted on a Paladin turnover from a misplayed ball. Kosakoff buried the mistake in the back of the net extending the lead to 2-0. As good as the offense was for the Huskies, their defense was suffocating as well. Washington allowed only 1 shot on goal and 2 shots total in the first half.
2nd Half Repeat
The second half ended up with a major repeat of the first half with the Huskies dominated the last 45 minutes as well on their way to the 3-1 win. The Huskie offense added 11 more shots on goal in the half and added another goal in the 86th minute by Asher Hestad giving the Huskies a lead they would not let go of.
The Huskie defense was swarming as well allowing the Paladins to get only 6 total shots and 2 on goal. The Paladins would add a goal late by Luke Hutzell in the 88th minute. It would not be enough for a Paladin team that was too overwhelmed. The Huskies advance to the Championship game Monday at 7 PM.
