The Anderson Trojans (5-2, 3-2 SAC) come into today’s game versus #22 Carson Newman (3-2, 2-2 SAC) with a chance to make the playoffs, and Carson Newman is trying to keep its spot in the post season as the rankings stand right now. The trojans are led by QB Tyler Wesley and will need a huge performance by the offense today to get Anderson the win.

The teams start out their opening drives both going down the field and both get missed field goals as defense so far is making the stand on both red zones. The first quarter ends with a 0-0 score, as Anderson is now 2nd down on the 47-yard line of the Eagles. Anderson has rushed for 74 yards in the first half with Tyler Wesley getting the majority of those yards so far.

Anderson takes the ball down to the 20-yard line after a targeting penalty against #1 for Carson-Newman, and Tyler Wesley does a highlight film run to the end zone for a touchdown, and the Trojans take a 6-0 lead after the extra point is failed by Anderson.

The teams both have a pair of turnovers after Tyler Wesley throws a interception, and the Eagles take it down to the 3-yard line and end up fumbling the ball with just 3:30 left in the half. We are at the two-minute warning in the first half, with Anderson having rushed for over 126 yards in the first half and thrown for only 23-yards. The Eagles have rushed for 82-yards and thrown also for only 23 yards in the half. The Eagles with 12 seconds left are able to get a touchdown and its 7-6 lead for the Eagles over the Trojans, and with that its halftime.

The Eagles after the half are the first to get a score when #36 Kayden McCoy rushes for a hard-fought touchdown with 7:04 left in the third quarter. The Trojans get it back now down 14-6, with its chances of a playoff berth starting to slip away, they need to get a score on this drive and let the defense rest. The Trojans end up kicking away after getting across the 50-yard line and the Eagles take over at the 19-yard line. The Eagles at the end of the third quarter are at the Trojans 42-yard line with a third down and 1. Carson-Newman gets the first down and then a touchdown and the score is now 21-6 the Eagles over the Trojans.

The Trojans get the ball and march down the field but when they go for it on 4th down, they are stopped by the Eagles defensive front. Carson-Newman is now going to hold this ball as much as possible to keep Tyler Wesley off the field with his offense. The Trojans are able to hold the Eagles on third and will get the ball back with about 9:23 left in the game. The Eagles march right down the field and get a touchdown, and the score is 28-6 over the Trojans with 4:21 left in the game.
The Trojans get the ball back and will get several first downs and finally get to midfield. The get a first down rush to the 35-yard line as we hit the two-minute warning. The Trojans this half have just made way too many mistakes on both sides of the ball, and I am sure Coach Lamb will address it during the week. The Trojans are not able to get another first down and this game is over, and the Eagles of Carson Newman will come out of Anderson with a victory and end Anderson’s chances of the playoffs. Final score 28-6
