“Winning on the road is always tough so it’s gratifying to get a decisive victory away from home against a team that was unbeaten in its first three matches,” said Paladin head coach Andrew Burr. “We showed some ruthlessness in the box tonight and hopefully that will give our team some confidence moving forward.” Along with dominating the scoreline, Furman managed a commanding 20-6 margin in total shot on its way to the 17th win over the Blue Hose in 19 series meetings. The Paladins managed an 11-1 edge in shot on goal and earned 13 corner kicks to just one for PC.
Reese DeJong made one save in goal to notch Furman’s third straight shutout while Febe Dombrecht stopped six shots for the Blue Hose.
Furman is idle until Thursday, September 4, when it travels to Spartanburg, S.C., to face the USC Upstate Spartans.
