MJ Jenkins
Our first of many spotlights on Furman Football class of 2025 begins with a Linebacker from Jacksonville Bolles High School Matthew “MJ” Jenkins. The 6’1 225lb player joins the Furman Paladins with some great stats and also a great IQ for the game. MJ was a standout star on his team’s defense which was able to make it to the 3rd round of the Florida state playoffs. MJ finished that game with 9 solo tackles, 8 Assist, 17 TOT and 1 Sack (safety), while being named one of the top Florida defensive athletes in 2025.
Extremely blessed and honored to announce that I have committed to play Division 1 football at Furman University!@CoachC_Byers @FurmanFootball @Bolles_Football @DeshawnBrownInc @ToddFordham78 @CoachWild15 pic.twitter.com/ZOykmSwRQo

MJ also was named one of the top Linebackers in Florida which is a huge accomplishment based on the talent Florida pours out each year across the nation to top schools. He comes to Furman with a nose for the ball and can make great tackles. He plays straight up or can drop back to provide help if needed. Furman with a need for a big-time linebacker after losing its star senior player last year will need his depth at the position this year. Furman has added a great player to its defense for the future in MJ Jenkins, and now it’s time to see how he handles fall camp while meeting the expectations of Coach Hendrix and his staff going into the season.
