Clemson Tigers Softball (9-6) on Sunday was able to run rule Marshall (5-7) and take a great weekend Clemson Classic Series 8-0. The Tigers Maddie Moore and Ava Wilson both led the way with two runs apiece as the team jumped out to a 3-0 lead on the Herd and never looked back.

Reese Basinger (3-2) went 5.0 innings, struck out five, allowed just four hits and shut out Marshall, bringing her ERA down below 2.00, and finished the game needing no help from the bullpen. This was Basinger’s first solo shutout of the season and 10th of her career. The Tigers now look to face the #9 ranked Georgia Bulldogs on Wednesday at 4pm at McWhorter Stadium.

Clemson on Saturday was able to beat Marshall 8-3 in 7 innings behind Senior Aby Viera who led the team, going 3-for-3 as they had a 5 run 3rd inning. The Tigers led the entire way even after Marshall scored 3 in the 6th inning which was followed by the Tigers putting up 3 more to end the game at the top of the 7th inning. Senior Brooke McCubbin earned her second win of the season with 5.2 innings of work and seven strikeouts, while Cintron earned her first career save with one strikeout in 1.1 innings.

Clemson in a double header was able to first get a win over Villanova 1-0 in 8 innings in a real tight game between the two pitchers of record. The Tigers then went on to beat Elon 4-3 in 7 innings to start the weekend tournament off with a 2-0 start.
