
The Furman Paladins 19-8 (7-7 SoCon) had its lowest scoring performance against the UNC Greensboro Spartans (18-9, 11-3 SoCon) who hold the first place spot in the Southern Conference. Furman shot 26.8% against the Spartans and also held UNCG to a low 58 scoring performance also.

Furman who was trailing 37-27 with around 15 minutes to go, was able to reel off 10 points and tie the game. Paladin Tyrese Hughey’s with the 3-point play led the Paladins to the tie with 10:57 left in the game. This seems to only spark the Spartans as they would then go on a 9-0 run and never looked back against the Paladins.

The Paladins would get as close as three when both Nick Anderson and PJay Smith would trim it, but UNCG shooter Giles would stop it in its tracks. Giles would finish with 19 points with 4 assist. with Polite finishing with 15 points for the top seeded Spartans in the SoCon. UNCG only shot 39.3% but outscored the Paladins in the paint 26-10.

Paladins was led by PJay Smith 17 points, which he was 6-6 from the foul line and 3-8 shooting from behind the arch. The Paladins will be on the road Wednesday night when they are at Samford, then return for one of its last two games at Bons Secours Wellness Arena against VMI at noon.
