This week’s list may just be providing you with some updated stats and insights. With no change to the top 5 this week, let’s shout out two teams that are doing their best to get on the list. The Pittsburgh Steelers (9-3) and Minnisota Vikings (10-2) are easily the next two teams up, with good overall teams on both sides of the ball.
5: Green Bay Packers (9-3) NO CHANGE
Green Bay is on a 6 game win streak, with an average scoring margin of +14.0 over the last 3. Their 3rd overall ranked offense, combined with a defense that has proven itself better than expected, at 12th overall, Green Bay is an exciting team to watch in a jammed NFC North.
4: Kansas City Chiefs (11-1) NO CHANGE
The Super Bowl champions have kept a steady pace this season. I hear a lot of chatter about luck, but I’m not a huge believer in luck. The two time defending Super Bowl champions are consistently winning games, they get the benefit of the doubt from me. A top 10 defense with a top 15 offense, led by Patrick Mahones and Andy Reid, I think they are doing just fine.
3: Buffalo Bills (10-2) NO CHANGE
The Bills are second in the league in scoring, trailing only the Detroit Lions. Their solid and underrated 11th ranked defense has let QB Josh Allen lead the team with an average scoring margin that also ranks 2nd in the league, at +10.9, and over 14 in the last 3. Buffalo appears to be the most explosive and well rounded team coming from the AFC right now.
2: Philadelphia Eagles (10-2) NO CHANGE
The Eagles want the number one spot on this list so badly. With the 4th ranked overall offense and the best overall defense, Philadelphia is poised and dangerous. With one of the deepest rosters in the league, averaging 29 points over the last 3, the Eagles are dangerous to emerge from the NFC.
1: Detroit Lions (11-2) NO CHANGE
Nobody averages more points per game than the Detroit Lions, the only team averaging over 30 points per game over the entire season. The defense is holding down a top-10 spot, leading to an average scoring margin of +15.0 this season, and an even more impressive +22.3 over the last few games. Detroit and Philadelphia almost seemed destined to meet up.
