The Southern Conference has proven one thing this year, it’s very unpredictable who will win each week has it has been all over the place with wins and losses. This week’s matchups seemed like they were going to fall into play for a great fight to see who would possibly share the SoCon title with Mercer, instead upsets all over the place. Trey Hedden passed for 210 yards and two touchdowns, Furman intercepted three passes — two in the second half — and the Paladins beat East Tennessee State 24-21 on Saturday.
Western Carolina 58 VMI 28

Taron Dickens threw for two touchdowns and Western Carolina scored 35 points in the second quarter on its way to beating VMI 58-28 on Saturday.

Quincy Crittendon was 34-of-50 passing for 340 yards and accounted for two touchdowns, D.J. Rias returned a kickoff 100 yards for a score and Samford beat Chattanooga 36-13 Saturday.

Cooper Wallace scored on a 54-yard third quarter run to give The Citadel the lead and the Bulldogs scored 17 second-half points to beat Wofford 30-17 on Saturday.

Jalen Milroe passed for two touchdowns and ran for a third in just over two quarters to help No. 9 Alabama beat FCS team Mercer 52-7 on Saturday.
