The Clemson Tigers Women’s Soccer (4-1-2) welcomed the Virginia Tech Hokies (5-2-1) to Historic Riggs field on Thursday night for a top ranked match up. This game was played as a Markee matchup between the two fighting for early season top team honors.

The two teams would play a defensive battle all through the first half with Clemson getting 7 shots on Goal compared to the Hokies with 3 shots, both teams had 2 saves a piece on goal heading into halftime.
Coming out of halftime Virginia Tech in the 63-minute Goal scored by Virginia Tech Weir, Anna, top right of goal off left foot; Assist by Mitchell, Natalie to make it 1-0. The Hokie would once again get another Goal scored by Virginia Tech Lewin, Taylor, top right of goal off left foot; Assist by Price, Taylor to make it 2-0. The Tigers will need a spark to get back in this game.

Clemson gets the spark they need when a goal was scored by Clemson Bornkamp, Megan, top right of goal; Assist by Hays, Eleanor and its now 2-1 and the Tigers are back in the game 72:25. The Tigers are fighting the rain and a top ACC powerhouse soccer team in the Hokies as time is slowly going away.

The Virgnia Tech Hokies (6-2-1) are able to hold on and get the win over the Clemson Tigers which record becomes (4-2-2). Clemson will return to action Sept. 19th as they face Duke on a Thursday night at Riggs Field for Orange Out!
