The Greenville Drive open up tonight at Fluor Field versus the Bowling Green Hot Rods for the first series of the year and will be a ring ceremony for the 2023 South Atlantic League Champions. The weather is trying its best to keep the game from happening, but we are told we are going to play ball tonight no matter what. Coach Iggy Suarez is being honored with his own bobble head night so make sure you are one of the first 1000 fans in the gate to get one.

The first inning both teams go three up and three down, and the season at Fluor is now on the way. We go all the way to the top of the fourth inning before we get a run as Dalton Rogers walks in the scoring run after shutting out the Hot Rods and is replaced by RP Nathan Landry with bases loaded and two outs. The Drive walk in yet another run and we are at 2-0 Hot Rods with bases loaded still and two outs as the fans are giving the umpire a ear full.

Base hit for the Hot Rods and its now 4-0 Drive falling behind further as the new pitcher is struggling to get strikes. A line shot over the left fielder brings home two more runs and the bottom has fallen out and now its 6-0 Hot Rods still with 2 outs and a runner on base as the pitching coach has come back out to calm down his player. A shot off the green monster in left brings in another run and its 7-0 as the Drive really need this inning to end quick. Finally, the Drive get the final out, but the damage is done, and they will have to get some runs back to get back in this game.
We are in the bottom of the 6th inning and the Drive have two outs and a runner at third with a new pitcher on the mound for the Hot Rods. Castro hits a double and scores a run and the Drive are on the board 7-1 as Rosario is up now to keep the inning going. He gets a hit single and scores Castro and its now 7-2 Drive trying to come back here in the 6th inning. The Hot Rods get the final out and its now 7-2 Drive still trailing the Hot Rods.

In the bottom of the 8th inning Christian Campbell destroys a ball over the CF wall and its 7-3 Drive catching the Hot Rods.
The first Drive big fly at Fluor Field belongs to the man who hit the last big fly at Fluor Field in 2023….

We head to the bottom of the ninth with the Drive still trailing 7-3 and we still have A GREAT CROWD ON HAND CHEERING ON THE TEAM.
