AEW Revolution was on Sunday, and we have plenty to talk about. From title matches, hardcore displays, Sting’s final match and more – let’s get started.

It's time for #AEWRevolution NOW!

The Final Showtime@Sting/@DarbyAllin vs @youngbucks for the AEW World Tag Team Title in Sting's Last Match Ever!

You won't want to miss this ppv tonight starting NOW! Thank you all watching Sting's last match ever tonight on AEW Revolution! pic.twitter.com/16U4ZTtDYo

The first match of Revolution featured Christian Cage defending his TNT Championship against Daniel Garcia. There was a slow start to the match with Christian rolling to the outside while also taking his time inflicting damage on Daniel Garcia. Christian actually seemed to dominate this match for a while. Daniel Garcia did end up mounting a comeback, even working his way to a very convincing false finish off of a pile driver hit from reversing a Christian Cage spear. Christian did kick out and with the help of The Patriarchy, defeated Daniel Garcia.

Daniel Garcia isn't relenting!

The AEW Continental Crown Championship was on the line when Bryan Danielson challenged Eddie Kingston. If Danielson loses, he will have to shake the hand of Eddie Kingston (after being very disrespectful to him in the weeks leading up the PPV). This match had more back and forth. Kingston quickly turning the chest of Danielson blood red, while Danielson did plenty of reversals and showed his technical prowess. Both men had plenty of smooth reversals and Kingston more then held his own in the chain wrestling segments. Eddie Kingston eventually kicking out of the running knee from Bryan Danielson. The ending segment of this match was great, the pace increased as both men hit reversal after reversal. Eddie was sure to only use his off hand during strikes playing into the earlier story of the match itself. Eddie Kingston ends up winning and retaining his title via powerbomb. Daniel Bryan does indeed raise shake the hand and raise the arm of Eddie Kingston.

A future AEW World Championship opportunity was on the line next in the 8-man All-Star Scramble. In this match all 8 men are in the ring at the same time and the winner is the first person to get a pinfall or submission. This match featured Hook, Wardlow, Brian Cage, Dante Martin, Powerhouse Hobbs, Lance Archer, Mangnus, and Chris Jericho. This match did not disappoint if you enjoy high spots and a high pace. False finishes galore from guys you don’t see breaking up the pin. Wardlow wins via pinfall after a powerbomb on Dante Martin.

Orange Cassidy has his International Championship on the line in the next match against Roderick Strong. Orange came into the match with his ribs heavily taped. The opening few minutes were largely dominated by Roderick Strong. He hit plenty of stiff slaps, power slam moves, and stretched out the injured ribs. Orange did end up with a few minutes of offense, but he largely took a solid beating and was unable to retain his International Championship. After the match we saw Kyle O’Reilly return and be friendly with Undisputed Kingdom but left some questions when he seemed to decline an invite into the faction.

FTR would face off in tag-team action against Jon Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli of Blackpool Combat Club. This was a stiff, hard-hitting match which saw Dax Harwood get a very nasty cut. He was bleeding so much I thought I saw the Referee call for the finish of the match, but Dax kicked out. Great false finishes all throughout this match, I thought both teams won the match multiple times. The technical reversals paired with the extreme violence made this match incredible. Jon Moxley ends up winning this match by choking out Dax Wheeler, who of course would not tap, despite bleeding out everywhere.

WHAT A FIGHT!

The AEW Women’s World Championship was next. “Timeless” Toni Storm defending her title against Deonna Porrazzo. This saw both women executing more of a technical, ground based, chain-style wrestling. Toni Storm retains via pinfall with the help of Luther distracting the referee.

Konosuke Takeshita faced off in the next match against recent AEW signee, Will Ospreay. These men were out to show what you can do in a standard singles match. Combining speed, pace, stiffness, high spots, this match had it all. I cannot decide which aspect of this match was the best, it was one of the best singles matches in recent memory. The amazing striking, the power moves, reversals, false finishes, move sets, just go watch it. I don’t follow how they actually rate a 5-star match, but this was a 5-star match. Will Ospreay wins via pinfall.

You & I are gonna live forever.

The AEW World Championship was on the line when Samoa Joe defended his title against Swerve Strickland and “Hangman” Adam Page. It could be a combination of following Ospreay and Takeshita, or prior expectations, but this match felt a little slow. Don’t get me wrong, it was certainly a good match. Adam Page put his hands on two different referees to break up pinfalls. The finish saw Hangman hit the buck-shot lariat on Joe, Swerve hitting the same move on Page, only for Samoa Joe to break up the pin, and end up tapping our Adam Page.

#AEW World Champion Samoa Joe isn't going to let the rivalry between Swerve and Hangman get in the way of his championship reign!

The main event, Sting’s final match, Sting and Darby Allin defending the AEW World Tag Team Championships against The Young Bucks with tornado rules. The match started out lightning quick, with Darby jumping to the outside and Sting’s kids (dressed up as different iterations of Sting) got involved. This quickly turned hardcore, with tables set up and glass panes introduced. The action quickly scattered across the whole arena. Both Darby Allin and Sting thrown off the stage through tables. The Young Bucks were then able to isolate Darby Allin in the ring. Darby would fight back and set up a ladder in the ring, only for his opponent on the outside to move out of the way, resulting in a 15-foot drop straight through a pane of glass. Sting made his way back to the ring after this, only to get put through a table for his troubles. Immediately after this, Sting was put through a panel of glass himself. Ric Flair then put himself on top of Sting to try and protect him but ate a double super kick for trying to help his friend. Sting would not go down, kicking out multiple times. Darby Allin then made his return to the match just in time to help Sting mount the comeback. Sting gets the tap out and wins his retirement match.

That wraps up one of the best cards in recent memory. Literally something for everyone. Thank you Sting.
