Lipscomb faces Towson in Game 2 of the Furman Invitational at Pepsi Stadium

Lipscomb and Towson Softball are battling it out in Game 2 of the Furman Invitational here at Pepsi stadium, with Lipscomb playing its second game after losing Game 1 to Georgetown. We are done with the first inning and neither team gets on the board or a hit, 0-0 heading to the second inning. Towson is not able to get a hit, yet Lipscomb is able to get a hit and puts a runner on first with two outs. After a walk to put two runners on base, and Towson gets the out and we are heading to the third inning 0-0.

Lipscomb is able to get out of the top of the third striking out Cara Bohner with a runner on third. Lipscomb now looks to get some hits and get a score. The Bisons have two outs and a runner on first with Katelyn Belding at bat trying to get her team a run, she hits a shot right up the middle and now runners at first and second. Josey Polk hits next and knocks both runners in with a double to left field, it’s now 2-0 Bison in front. Towson gets the final out and we are on to the fourth inning with Lipscomb in the lead.

Lipscomb is able to get three up, three down and we head to the bottom of the 4th inning still 2-0 Bison in the lead. Lipscomb gets two runners on base with two outs and is unable to get them home as Towson gets the final out and now it’s the fifth and Towson has to get runs quick as only nine outs left to do it. Lipscomb gets three up and three down and now it’s the bottom of the fifth with a new pitcher Alyssa Bostley now up for Towson. Lipscomb gets two more runs and its now 4-0 with one out after two bunts that brings in runs. Lipscomb gets 3 more runs with two more runners on and 2 outs as Towson has changed pitchers and get the final out as we head to the sixth inning.

Top of the sixth and Towson has got three runs and made this a game as its 7-3 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning. Towson holds serve and gets 3 outs and doesn’t allow even a hit as we head to the seventh inning 7-3.
