As we near the end of the year, we also approach AEW’s Worlds End PPV this Saturday. Who will win the Continental Championship? What Happens with Christian Cage and Adam Copeland? Can MJF manage to hang on to the AEW World Title? This and more on the upcoming PPV (and upcoming article).
During today’s media call for AEW Worlds End taking place this Saturday, Tony Khan says that we can “expect some big revelations & big moments at Worlds End & that the secrets will be revealed” with regards to the identity of The Devil. pic.twitter.com/Ngl37sb9MH

Currently scheduled for the pre-show, we have a 20-man Battle Royale for a future AEW TNT Championship match. As of writing this article, all participants are TBA. This is certainly difficult to predict and write about without much lead up or information, but I have a theory. This is far from a lock but I can see Luchasaurus winning this match. I am not sure if I would say he comes back as Luchasaurus to take on Christian Cage (if he wins his match later in the night) or comes back as Killswitch (the name Christian gave him based on his finisher) and takes on Adam Copeland if he wins.

Also set for the pre-show is the FTW Rules match for the FTW Championship, as Hook defends against Wheeler Yuta. The FTW Championship has never seemed to take off like AEW had hoped and this match has not had a great build up. That being said, both of these guys are capable of putting on an entertaining match. While I believe Yuta is the greater talent, I believe Hook will retain the Championship his father made famous.

Now we get to get into the AEW Continental Classic as the winner of the blue and gold league will face off for the inaugural Triple Crown Championship (ROH World Championship, NJPW Strong Openweight Championship, and the inaugural AEW Continental Championship). Jon Moxley was the winner in the triple-threat match for his finals, while Eddie Kingston defeated Bryan Danielson in his finals. Eddie Kingston entered this tournament putting his two belts on the line and gets to finish his underdog storyline against AEW Legend Jon Moxley. Regardless of the outcome these two are sure to leave it all on the line. I predict violence, guts, blood, and much more. I don’t predict a wrestling clinic, nor do I think they will try. This prediction is tough, but I really felt Jon Moxley pushing the underdog story for Eddie Kingston on TV this week and the crowd really seems to be popping for Eddie. I think Mox is going to bring the violence, but my pick will be for Eddie Kingston to finish this story and gain the inaugural AEW Continental Championship. I can see him going back to Japan to drop the NJPW Open weight Championship and then coming back to AEW to go into some storylines.

We have another championship on the line as Julia Hart defends her AEW TBS Championship against Abadon. Julia Hart seems to have made friends with the recent heel turned Skye Blue, while Abadon was recently defended by the returning Thunder Rosa. Outside of Thunder Rosa, all of these Women are really still trying to perfect both their gimmicks and their in-ring skills. This match-up is a little lackluster as Julia Hart still appears awkward in the darker gimmick and still seems very soft in the ring, while Abadon seems to have just been thrown in because of the face paint. She has not been built up as a champion and certainly has not put on a championship caliber match. I predict Julia Hart retains.

From one Women’s Championship to another, “Timeless” Toni Storm defends her AEW Women’s Championship against the recently returned Riho. While I do think the wrestling will be of a higher caliber – I am not sensing a 5-star opportunity here. While Riho is a former champion herself, her move-set always appears soft, and she cannot cut a good promo. Toni Storm has been on a roll. When I recently spoke to a Toni Storm fan, they advised me she is a good wrestler and a great showman. I give the edge in all aspects (and my prediction) to “Timeless” Toni Storm.

Let’s mix it up and discuss the eight-man tag team match where Ricky Starks, Big Bill, and The Don Callis Family (Kyle Fletcher and Powerhouse Hobbs) take on Le Sex Gods (Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara), Sting, and Darby Allin. Jericho got the better of Don Callis this week and got to destroy all his art gifts via his bat. With Le Sex Gods back together, with Sting on his goodbye tour, and with the opposition being able to take the loss and it not hurt their trajectory, I am taking the baby-face team for the win.
Eight man tag at Worlds End!! That’s exactly what I wanted. Very excited. #AEWDynamite

Big matchup for the AEW TNT Championship as Christian Cage defends against Adam Copeland (formerly known as Edge) in a no DQ match. Christian has somehow kept getting hotter and his heel run has been one of the best (largely in part to his great promos). Christian now has Nick Wayne and Momma Wayne at his side as well. With no disqualifications and these two men wanting to end their careers on their terms, I believe they are going to go hard on Saturday. Will Nick and Momma Wayne get involved? Will Luchasaurus/Killswitch return? While I think the original plan was for Cage to drop the title, I can’t help but think “Has his heel run been too hot to stop right now? Is it too soon?”. My pick is for Cage to retain.

From tag-team partners to PPV opponents, Swerve Strickland will take on Keith Lee in a singles match. Swerve has been on a roll as of late, going undefeated in the Continental Cup, only to be the man not involved in the pin during the semifinals triple threat match. I believe these two will put on a fantastic match and push the limits of a singles match. I’m not saying blood, I’m saying crazy high spots, smooth reversals, unique move sets, power and athleticism from both men. Keith Lee is great and deserves some love but I don’t see this being the spot for Swerve to take a loss, give me Swerve in a 5-star match.

An interesting storyline appears to be at a turning point as Andrade El Idolo (with CJ) takes on Miro. If you are not up to date on this story, CJ has been trying to make it on her own as a manager while Miro has been getting into it with the guys, she has shown interest in. Andrade seemed to be the guy to stick and now they are set to face off on PPV. This storyline has been strange, forced, and not well thought out. Maybe it’s the fact it’s Andrade, or maybe it’s a love story in wrestling, but it hasn’t caught on. That being said, it makes it hard to predict. I think they will put on a great match and expect good reversals and pace. For a prediction, how can you have a man’s wife propping up other men in front of you and not get the payoff? I will predict Miro to win this one.

Final match of the (subject to change) card is for the main belt of AEW, the singles match for the AEW World Championship. MJF defends against Samoa Joe as devils collide. MJF has been on his own since the injury of Adam Cole. That is, until Samoa Joe stepped in to help him defend the ROH Tag Team Titles for MJF and Adam Cole. For his graciousness, a title shot. The line of baby-face and heel have been blurred for some time in this story and it has been the first time in a long time MJF has looked weak in the slightest. Samoa Joe can always put on a great match and MJF is a great wrestler in his own right. Samoa Joe is very deserving, but I do believe AEW will continue to book MJF as their champion.
We just found out how far Samoa Joe will go for the #AEW World Championship.
