The bigger they are, the harder they fall.
That saying of old was proved true yet again last Sunday as three of our top 10 ranked teams fell, including the top two ranked teams in Philadelphia and Kansas City.
As such, there’s been a shakeup at the top for the first time in multiple weeks. A new #1 has made their way to the top of the week 14 Greenville Sports Media NFL Power Rankings, and we can’t wait to show you who it is.
So without further ado, let’s get into it.
1. San Francisco 49ers (Prev. 4)
Your new number one team is a familiar face, as the 49ers reclaim the spot they held for the majority of the first half of the season with a massive win over the Eagles on Sunday afternoon.
2. Dallas Cowboys (Prev. 3)
Dallas played their first semi-real team in weeks, and squeaked out a dramatic victory in shootout fashion on Thursday night. They’ll have a chance to prove their mettle against the Philadelphia Eagles this weekend.
3. Philadelphia Eagles (Prev. 1)
The Eagles relinquished the #1 spot in the power rankings for the first time in a good while by virtue of being absolutely blasted by the 49ers on Sunday afternoon. Things don’t get any easier for Philly with a trip to Dallas up next on the docket.
4. Kansas City Chiefs (Prev. 2)
The Chiefs fell to the Packers in Lambeau on Sunday night, and there are real offensive concerns in Kansas City. Time will tell if they can remedy the issues or not.
5. Baltimore Ravens (Prev. 5)
Coming off a bye
6. Miami Dolphins (Prev. 7)
The Dolphins continue to roll bad teams, romping over the Commanders. Unfortunately for Miami, they have yet to show up against a good team.
7. Jacksonville Jaguars (Prev. 6)
They lost, but it almost seems understandable with the loss of Trevor Lawerence late in the game. Jacksonville’s hopes now hinge on the state of their young QBs ankle.
8. Buffalo Bills (Prev. 8)
Coming off a bye.
9. Detroit Lions (Prev. 9)
Detroit looked great, then almost let the Saints back in, and then pulled it out in the end. There’s a long way to go, but the Lions have yet to convince anyone that they can make a playoff run.
10. Houston Texans (Prev. 10)
The Texans are very much alive in the AFC, although they did lose star rookie WR Tank Dell to a gruesome broken leg for the season on Sunday.
11. Denver Broncos (Prev. 11)
Russ cooked up 3 2nd half interceptions in the Broncos tight loss to the Texans. They’ll try to ride again next week.
12. Pittsburgh Steelers (Prev. 12)
This team is an experience.
13. Cincinnati Bengals (Prev. 14)
Even without Joe Burrow, the Bengals stayed close enough to knock off the Jags in overtime. Did it almost certainly hinge on a late injury to Jags star Trevor Lawerence? Well, yes, but it’s a W in the ledger nonetheless.
14. Green Bay Packers (Prev. 17)
My oh my, Love is flying high. That’s three straight wins for a desperate Packers team, with two coming against the Lions and Chiefs respectively. Say Cheese!
15. Seattle Seahawks (Prev. 15)
They gave us an actually good Thursday night game. They should be given a wildcard spot just for that.
16. Cleveland Browns (Prev. 13)
It’s always a rollercoaster in Cleveland.
17. Los Angeles Chargers (Prev. 16)
They didn’t Charger this one (but they almost did)
18. Los Angeles Rams (Prev. 20)
The Rams are playing some of their best football right now, as they dispatched Cleveland fairly easily on Sunday. It’s still a long shot for LA to make the playoffs, but it looks a lot better than it did a few weeks ago.
19. Minnesota Vikings (Prev. 18)
Coming off a bye
20. Indianapolis Colts (Prev. 22)
The Colts are somehow still alive in the AFC wildcard race, despite several crippling injuries. They just keep finding ways to win.
21. Atlanta Falcons (Prev. 19)
The Falcons are the most painstakingly boring team in the NFL, there can be no doubt about it. However, they do occasionally win football games.
22. New Orleans Saints (Prev. 21)
The Saints were oh so close to coming all the way back against the Lions, but close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades, and the Saints are no longer in first place in the NFC South.
23. Tampa Bay (Prev. 23)
They won… but it was the Panthers.
24. Las Vegas Raiders (Prev. 24)
Coming off a bye.
25. New York Jets (Prev. 25)
With a loss to the Falcons, New York’s playoff window (and any hope of an Aaron Rodgers miraculous return) is likely out of the picture. A lost season for the Jets.
26. Tennessee Titans (Prev. 26)
Tough times in Tennessee.
27. Arizona Cardinals (Prev. 27)
The Cardinals beat the Steelers, which doesn’t help their draft stock, but it sure will boost morale.
28. New York Giants (Prev. 28)
Coming off a bye.
29. New England Patriots (Prev. 29)
The defense held up well against the Chargers, but the offense was blanked by a mediocre LA defense. An odd year for Bill Belichick’s squad continues.
30. Chicago Bears (Prev. 30)
Coming off a bye
31. Carolina Panthers (Prev. 31)
A close loss to the Buccaneers won’t help a dismal season. Firing first year head coach Frank Reich probably won’t produce results either.
32. Washington Commanders (Prev. 32)
They began the week in last place, and in last place they shall remain.
