“The toughest race car driver I ever worked for is not doing well,” Dodson wrote on Twitter. “Please keep Cale Yarborough in your prayers. The Yarbrough family has asked for no phone calls or visits for now. Praying for Cale and the family.”

Yarborough, 84, won 83 Cup Series races over his decorated career. He’s tied with Jimmie Johnson for sixth on the all-time leaderboard. The four-time Daytona 500 champion won three straight series championships from 1976 to 1978. He set a record for most poles in a season with 14 in 1980. NASCAR Named Yarborough one of the sport’s 50 greatest drivers when commemorating its 50th anniversary in 1998. Yarborough made the Hall of Fame in 2012.
Greenville Sports Media and DaFanBoys give our prayers Cal and his Family at this time.
