Auburn, AL- Auburn and LSU started out the game trading blows in Neville Arena. Most of the punching for LSU came from big man Will Baker. Things became chippy between Johni Broome and Baker early on with Baker getting into first half foul trouble. While he was on the bench, Auburn opened up the scoring to the tune of a 17-point lead 51-34 at the half. Auburn’s bench scored 26 first half points lead by Chad Baker-Mazara who had 10.

The Second half started out like the first ended. Auburn widened their 17-point lead to 28. Then LSU went on a 12-0 run hitting four three pointers in a row. Auburn proceeded to go cold on offense a lot of which came from taking bad shots early in the shot clock. The middle third of second half was where the Bayou Bengles made their move to cut the lead. They were able to get it down to four points before running out of gas and Auburn’s depth took over. Auburn was able to pull away late to cap off a 93-78. The bench had 49 of Auburn’s 93 points. Where Auburn had the advantage in the box score was turnovers 17/8, points off turnovers 26/10, steals 16/6, and fast break points 26/12. The biggest thing here is that defense lead to offense and helped Auburn take control of this game. Chad Baker-Mazara lead the team with 19 points followed by Johni Broome with 18.
